Express Burger Steak Recipe

Express Burger Steak Recipe

An “express” burger steak recipe version as it uses store brought ready-made burger patties, combined with mushroom gravy, it tastes just great.

Why Express burger steak?

When I’m craving burger steak I usually make this easy and fast dish and it satisfies me. I named it express as I’m using a ready-made burger patty that saves me time and money.  I got this idea when one of my friends served it in our prayer meeting. It was delicious and I asked how to make it. I thought it was simple so I tried it one time. At first the sauce becomes thick as it cools down so I just adjusted the water. Nevertheless, it’s enjoyable to eat it while it’s warm.

As a working mom, I don’t have the time to make home-made burger patties. I would usually want to spend my time playing with my daughter. And store brought burger patties here are somehow affordable than buying the whole ingredients for making a beef burger patties. Additionally, I am used to this kind of process because of its convenience. So yeah, I think this justifies this recipe. hahaha

By the way, I don’t have anything against homemade burger patties, but this is just my personal preference at this moment. Hopefully in the future I will have the luxury of time to make my own beef burger patties. I will update you that time and this post as well. In the meantime, I can’t wait to enjoy the burger steak with mushroom gravy using this method.

Beef burger patties

In this recipe we are going to use ready-made patties. Just check the labels for the nutrition facts and ingredients used. You have to be cautious when buying readymade foods as they may contain harmful ingredients. We have to make sure that what we buy is nutritious and uses the main ingredients although inexpensive. Check the label.

with or without mushroom

The mushroom gravy is simple to make and uses little ingredients. Butter, flour, soy sauce, beef cubes and black pepper are just some of the ingredients that may be already in your kitchen. I used beef broth cubes since this adds a beef flavor in the gravy since we don’t use a real broth. However, I omit the salt because I’m already using the soy sauce and the broth.

Now, if you don’t have the mushroom slices in your pantry so you can just remove it totally and it will still taste good. I like to put mushroom slices to the gravy so that it will give a little flavor and appeal to the gravy.  And somehow adding the mushrooms gives us a dose of vegetables in our dish. But this is totally up to you.

Try this recipe when you are craving for that “Jollibee” burger steak, it taste just as good. Happy tummy!

  • Once incorporated, add the beef broth cubes, soy sauce, salt and the ground black pepper.
  • Lastly add the sliced mushroom and cook for 2-3 minutes.
  • Put the gravy on top of the burger patties or add in the beef patties in the gravy to seep in some liquids. This will result in more juicy beef burger steak.
  • Pair with steamed rice and enjoy!

Notes

We want our sauce just to be the right thickness, not too thick and not too thin. If you think that the sauce is too thick, you can add more water little by little until you get the desired results.  On the other hand, if you feel that your sauce is too thin, you can add a little flour until the desired consistency is achieved.
