Homemade Salsa Recipe

This homemade salsa is so perfect served with tortilla chips or as a dip over your favorite Mexican food like tacos, burritos, taquitos, and quesadillas among others. The best party food partner around.

Equipment

  • Food processor or blender
  • Chopping board and knife
  • Mixing Bowl
  • Cling wrap and container

Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup fresh tomatoes, chopped
  • 1 cup canned chopped tomatoes
  • 1 medium red onion, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon fresh cilantro, chopped
  • 1 clove garlic
  • ¼ teaspoon sugar
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lime juice
  • 1 teaspoon cayenne powder -- or pickled/fresh jalapeno, seeds removed
  • ¼ teaspoon ground cumin
  • teaspoon salt
  • teaspoon ground black pepper

Instructions
 

  • Combine fresh and canned tomatoes, red onion, cilantro, garlic, sugar, lime juice, cayenne powder, cumin, salt and pepper in a food processor. Pulse processor until mixture is combined, yet remains chunky.
  • Transfer to a bowl, cover with plastic wrap, and refrigerate at least 1 hour before serving with your favorite Mexican food.
  • Store left-over in the refrigerator and in a sealed container for up to 1 week.
