Dates Milkshake Recipe

This delicious dates milkshake is made of milk, dates, chia seeds and nuts. Perfect for breakfast, snack or dessert, this milkshake is so simple to make and ready in less than 20 minutes.

Ingredients
  

  • 10 pieces dates, pitted
  • 15 pieces cashew nuts
  • 15 pieces almond nuts * see notes
  • ½ cup almond milk, hot * see notes
  • 1 tablespoon chia seeds
  • cup water
  • 2 cups almond milk, chilled * see notes
  • 4-5 pieces ice cubes optional

Instructions
 

  • In a medium bowl, combine pitted dates, cashews, almonds and hot milk. Let it sit for about15 minutes to soften. Note: You can skip this step if you are not using nuts or is using a high-speed blender.
  • In a small bowl, combine water and chia seeds. Mix and set aside.
  • In a blender, pour the softened dates and nuts mixture and chilled milk. Blend until smooth.
  • Add ice cubes (if using) and pulse until well blended.
  • Divide chia seeds equally among glasses and pour blended milkshake.
  • Mix and top with chopped dates and nuts as desired.
  • Place a straw and enjoy!

Notes

  • Use pure vanilla extract to enhance the flavor and taste. 
  • You can add frozen bananas if you want a thick milkshake.
  • Add cinnamon powder to give milkshake a fantastic warm, sweet, and spicy flavor.
  • You can use walnuts as substitute or omit the nuts entirely if so desired.
  • you may also use dairy milk or another plant-based milk, such as soy or oat (depends on your preferred diet)
  • Use soft, sweet dates like the Medjool, Omani, Khidri or Ajwa.
  • Soaking the dates and nuts in lukewarm milk for at least 15 minutes or more makes them softer therefore blends properly when blending.
  • Blend at a high speed to avoid having chunks in your mouth after drinking a smoothie. If you don't have a high speed blender, I suggest blending it for an additional minute while sometimes stirring it with a large spoon.
  • There is no need to add sugar to this dish, but if you doesn’t follow a certain diet and want a sweeter milkshake, you can add date syrup, maple syrup, honey or sugar.
