Equipment

  • blender
  • 2 tall glasses or 3 small glasses and/ or straws

Ingredients

  • 4 scoops (about 2 cups) vanilla ice cream
  • 8 pieces Oreo cookies (or other chocolate sandwich cookies), plus more for garnishing
  • ¾ cup cold milk, preferably whole
  • 1 tablespoon chocolate syrup or sauce, plus more for garnishing optional
  • ½ - 1 teaspoon vanilla extract optional
  • whipped cream for garnishing

Instructions

  • In a blender, place Oreo cookies, vanilla ice cream, milk, chocolate syrup and vanilla essence (if using). Blend until becomes smooth.
  • Divide the milkshake into two tall glasses or 3 small glasses. Add whipped cream, extra crushed cookie pieces or chocolate syrup on top as a garnish.
  • Serve and enjoy!

Notes

  • This recipe may be made with any type of milk, from full fat to skimmed, although using whole milk tastes the creamiest. After all, it is a milkshake.
  • Use cold milk and cold glasses to maintain the cold temperature of the milkshake.
  • Break the Oreos into two to four pieces, so that a standard blender will work efficiently.
  • The key to a thicker milkshake is to either increase the amount of ice cream or decrease the amount of milk. If you want a larger serving size, you can also add additional ice cream, if you're splitting this between two people. Simply add a splash of milk if it's too thick and you'd like it a little smoother.
