I’m a huge fan of mangoes and I bet that I am not alone (wink). When mango season arrives, I always buy fresh mangoes at the market to use in a variety of recipes.

Actually, I like to eat my mangoes fresh and is great on itself as an after meal dessert. But there are other ways you can use mangoes.

You can make dessert just like the mango graham float in a cup and mango ice cream. Or use it in a salad such as the prawns, avocado and mango noodles salad or mango salsa salad.

On the other hand, this mango smoothie is the easiest to make. It only takes around 5 minutes to prepare and tastes fantastic.

In making smoothie, sweet and luscious mangoes require minimal assistance. It’s a great morning pick-me-up, but it’s also refreshing when served with spicy foods or as an after-dinner dessert option.

So, if you have a 5 minutes to spare and an overwhelming sweet-and-cold yearning, grab your mangoes, yogurt, and milk. Let’s get started making mango smoothies!

MANGO SMOOTHIE RECIPE INGREDIENTS

To make a tasty mango smoothie, these are what you’ll need:

mango smoothie ingredients

Mangoes: Since mangoes are in season, you can use fresh mangoes. If fresh mangoes aren’t available or in season, frozen mango should be used instead. I like to use fresh mangoes for this smoothie and pre-freeze or chill them for about 30 minutes before making my smoothie because I want to enjoy it cold. Any type of mango will suffice as long as they are sweet. Personally, Philippine mangoes are the best.

Banana: If you are using fresh mangoes, it would be fantastic if you could freeze your banana ahead of time! This will create a chilled, creamy texture in your smoothie. You can use a fresh banana if you use frozen mango. To put it another way, make sure the mango or banana is frozen at the very least.

Milk. Milk adds creaminess to the smoothie. I used fresh milk in this recipe, but you use any dairy or non-dairy milk.

Yogurt: If you want a thicker, creamier smoothie, Greek yogurt is the way to go. However, any plain dairy or non-dairy yogurt would do. Yogurt will give the smoothie more thickness and protein. If you don’t have any, you can just use water instead.

HOW DO YOU MAKE MANGO SMOOTHIE

To make this smoothie, simply combine all of the ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth and well combined. If you’re using frozen mango, you may need to press down the mixture with your tamper to ensure it’s evenly mixed.

Absolutely! Making this smoothie vegan is simple. Choose a dairy-free Greek or plain yogurt instead of dairy yogurt. In terms of the milk, you can use your preferred dairy-free option in place of conventional milk. You can use almond milk, cashew milk, oat milk, or coconut milk as alternative.

WHEN IS THE IDEAL TIME TO HAVE A SMOOTHIE?

Smoothies can be consumed at any time of the day. A smoothie fits into your schedule whether it’s for breakfast, a quick meal, or before or after a workout. Just keep in mind that if you’re thinking about consuming one before night, keep the sugar consumption modest, otherwise you’ll be pumped and ready to go instead of sleeping.

TIPS IN MAKING MANGO SMOOTHIE

  • Use ripe, sweet, and non-fibrous mangoes. Squeeze the mango gently to ensure that it is slightly soft and ripe. Throughout the year, you’re likely to come across different varieties of mango, but whichever variety you choose, make sure it’s ripe before mixing.
  • Do not combine sour mangoes with dairy products such as yogurt or milk. This causes bloating and indigestion.
  • Citrus fruits are incompatible with dairy products and can cause indigestion. So, do not combine dairy milk or yogurt with orange juice, lemon juice, or any other acidic fruits or juices.
  • Add your favorite toppings into the smoothie. Some of the alternatives include chopped fruits & nuts, ice cream, edible seeds (chia, sesame, sunflower, pumpkin), chocolate shavings, or a sweet syrup. Protein powder, chia seeds, or flax seeds can also be used to increase nutrition. The possibilities are infinite!
  • Smoothies are often medium-thick to medium consistency. Add water or your favorite milk if you like a runnier, less thick consistency. Make sure it’s not too thin or the flavors will be diluted.
  • To make a richer smoothie, add additional milk or replace the nonfat yogurt with low-fat or full-fat yogurt. You can use vanilla yogurt for added flavor. Fruit yogurts can also be used to introduce different flavors.
  • Adding ice to this drink makes it even colder and more pleasant. If you use ice cubes, it should be taken as soon as possible.
  • For a more tropical flavor, substitute coconut milk as the liquid.

HOW TO SERVE

Mango smoothies are a healthy breakfast or sweet snack that are quick and easy to make.

Serve your mango smoothie in a big glass with straw. You can also chill the smoothie in the refrigerator for a few hours before serving. However, I urge that you consume it the same day it is prepared.

You can add your favorite toppings and enjoy!

HOW TO STORE

Normally, you won’t have any leftover smoothie, but if you do, keep it refrigerated for a few hours to enjoy later. You can freeze the smoothie in popsicle molds or ice trays and have it as a frozen mango dessert later.
